Learning a new language at Ushine is a fun experience and not a chore. Our immersion method means that our students learn this new language the same way they learned their mother tongue: in a nurturing environment, with lots of encouragement and creative repetition.Programs

French Language, Art and Culture 

What is more fun for a young child than to begin learning a new language through hands-on art activities?

Each class begins with a circle time where children are introduced to basic conversational terms, greetings, and etiquette. Students will be inspired by works of art from famous French artists and practice expressing themselves in French during art activities. Next, they will create their own masterpiece using a variety of techniques and media, such as, drawing, painting, collage, charcoal, watercolor, oil pastel and acrylic. Students will listen French stories, sing songs and learn classic French dances. Each class ends with a 'taste of France' snack.

Le Voilà: An Introduction to French Language and Arts

Students will be introduced to the fundamental elements of the French language with an emphasis on the development of basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills for kindergarten and elementary-age students. French culture is woven into the curriculum blending the study of language with works of art from the masters of the Impressionist Movement.

The visual discovery of Impressionism and other major art genres will enable your child to identify artistic techniques, basic composition, and to make distinctions between a painting’s subject and its other artistic genre. Through this journey, your budding artist will gain an understanding of the impressionist movement and how it influenced the way people think, view and create art. This new understanding will spark a curiosity and a life-long love for French art, language and culture.
